This One’s For You Lacey (1984-2010)

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Those of you who read this thing I call a blog regularly know that rarely am I serious.  So consider this my first serious post.  Yesterday, our family suffered a major loss and everyone that was touched by her lost an amazing friend.  Yesterday, around 4:00pm, my cousin Lacey lost her long, incredible battle with leukemia.

I’ll admit we weren’t extremely close.  We didn’t do everything together.  We shared the occasional laugh and conversation here and there, but she was family.  Close family.  And waaaayy too young family.

I remember she was the spunk in our family events, being the sole supplier of bubbliness and happiness for the evening’s festivities.  She was the “evil” whip cracking boss for the family at Jacoby Custom Cues where she worked.  She was always the friendly face of the company when they traveled to Las Vegas for the billiards expo shows.  She cared about everyone and put her family and friends before her.  She was a hard worker.  She was lovable.  She was the up when you were down.  She was full of life and loved life.  She was…. an extraordinary “superhuman”.

Even right now, I can remember her hearty, giggly laugh.  I can remember the wonderful sound of her slightly nasally voice. :)  I remember her ability to live every day to the fullest, like it was her last.  You could see the obvious joy she brought to her sisters, her brother, her mom and her dad.  Their eyes would light up whenever she was around.

At this point, all we can do is look towards the future and continue on with our lives.  That’s what Lacey would have wanted for us, because she was selfless and wanted everyone around her to be as happy and as content with life as she was.  We can go forward now knowing she’s in a better place, where there is no pain and she can still partake in our daily activities through our hearts and our minds.

So if you’re reading this and you were one of those touched by Lacey in her short time with us, feel free to post below with how she touched your life and how you will always remember her.

We will miss you Lacey.  You will remain with us through thick and thin, and when the time comes, God will allow us to be together again for the long haul.  Love you kiddo.

The Birthday Girl is 5 Years Old!

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

That’s right folks, this week is National Lexi Week! My fuzzy lil’ daughter turns 5 and we’re celebrating! The celebration consists mainly of balloons, streamers, a cake, and her taking extra long naps and playing with string. Oh to be a cat! Life, so simple!

So everyone, please join me in saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEXI!

The Furriest Line of Macs…

Monday, March 9th, 2009

Over this past weekend we made an hour and a half trip up to my hometown so I could spend the five minutes setting up my parents’ new Wii (read the manual!). While we were there my other half had to stop by the humane society (again) to look at kitties so she could get one for her and her daughter.

Guess who left with one instead?

Everyone, please say hello to Mac, Lexi’s newest roommate and eventual new best buddy (right now she’s still on her hissing period). He is 6 months old and in serious need of a declawing! But so far he is the most playful, most cuddly cat I’ve ever had. Lexi used to be that way too, but I think her adult years have forbidden to behave that way anymore (I think she’s really just jealous of him being so much younger and free-spirited… he’s got the world on a string!).

I’m sure now that I have two cats that I will provide a few more interesting stories about them from time to time. As Lexi got older I stopped writing about her because she doesn’t do as much cute and fun stuff anymore except talk to me. I could write about her more, but it would be the same story “She did stuff today: slept… ate… pooped… stared out the window… repeat”.

And if you’re wondering, yes he’s intentionally named after the computer from which I write this post. (GEEK)

Merr-Wii Christmas Mii Friends…

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas all you Jabloggy nuts!  All this week I am being held prisoner at my parents’ house as we celebrate Christmas and pay homage to the Wii gods.  Yes, mii family has become Wii addicts and require that I bring my Wii with mii every year from this point on.  I don’t have much of a choice, otherwise they will kill mii!

As of right now, my aunt from Las Vegas is attempting to defend her Wii bowling title against my recently addicted girlfriend.  Both are attempting to maintain a better score than my girlfriend’s 5-year old daughter as well.  What has this world come to?!  Before family Christmases were a joyous occasion.  Now everyone wants to cut each other’s Mii heads off with a Wiimote.  All holiday hell is breaking loose!

Happy Labor Day from iPhone!

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Hopefully my first of many posts via my new iPhone interface. I plan on taking a little vacation with my better half and her little one this weekend to visit my parents. We’ll be relaxing on the lake Saturday on a pontoon. I bet you’re really jealous! Have a good holiday weekend and we’ll be together again next week (I know you’ll miss me)

Drugs Are Bad, mmmkay?

Friday, July 11th, 2008

Yesterday I went grocery shopping (yay for food!) and I picked up a couple of cat nip toys for Lexi, feline of wonder. Well, as you may have guessed, the moment she got her paws on one (pun intended) she was freakin’ wiggin’ out the rest of the evening like a crack head chasing imaginary cars (or something). Huh, guess you had to be there…. :)
